Designed to fit Silky’s Hayauchi pole, this ratchet-operated lopper head accessory offers precise, easy pruning of branches up to 2″ diameter. The high carbon steel cutting blade has been fully heat-treated and Teflon-S coated to ensure smooth cutting. Other features include a double pulley system and a 4-position ratchet mechanism that allows lopping of thick branches with minimal effort. Comes with a tough, protective draw-string pouch.
USEFUL-BUT ~ reviewed by JW
This lopper is well made; has a very sharp, ratchet operated, blade and is useful for cutting limbs having diameters that are too big for standard pole loppers. But, it is VERY HEAVY making it primarily suited for cutting limbs directly overhead. If you have to angle the pole off of 90 degrees, the weight makes it almost impossible to handle at full extension. Unless the limb is very flexible, the saw blade is lighter and works much better. Also, the length of the ratchet makes work in tight spots very difficult. Consider it if you need all of the toys. Quality might be a 5 star. Utility is probably 1-2 stars.
Big little nipper ~ reviewed by Bucyrusboy
Quickly swaps out for saw. Solid attachment and does the job even at full extension. Cord pulls long leveraged ARM to make easy cut. The arm can get Hung up though unless u r careful positioning it.
Great Tool! ~ reviewed by Jean Jacoby
Have used a homemade PVC version of this for years before it finally broke. This new one does the job and does it well. It is definitely worth the price. It is both sturdy and well made. I did buy the attachment so I can both saw and cut. Just an FYI: I am a 6′ tall woman, so handling it hasn’t been a problem for me. However, because it is metal, it is heavier, and its length can make it difficult to handle. So, I think this tool in its extended position may be problematic for shorter, smaller or older women.

Made for Serious lopping. ~ reviewed by Gerhardt
Good, but not perfect piece of equipment. Mounting holes are smaller than Hayauchi mounting bolt, and pulleys bind. Former can be fixed with a few swipes of your file, the latter with use.
It does cut real nice though and the ratcheting system works good ~ reviewed by Rick
I asked the question of 1.5″ or 2.0″ for the cutter and upon receiving my lopper,I measured it and it is 2″ at the opening. However I was told you wont be cutting much thick hardwood with this and they are right.I haved used it on silver maples, white pines and pin oaks.
You have to make sure the long silver bar doesnt get up against another branch or twig because it keeps you from ratcheting and making the cut and I nearly ( unintentionally ) left it up in the tree as I was halfway through the cut and got it wedged.
It does cut real nice though and the ratcheting system works good.I would also like to mention that when I had the pole extended
completely and trying to cut it is very top heavy.Im 6’1″ and 250 and after using this for awhile it does make you tired from the weight at the top even though it weighes maybe 4-lbs.Try to keep the pole vertical and its alot easier.
One more thing…….with the pole extended completely and pulling on the rope tends to make pole bend since your losing the rigidity of having the pole sections inside each other.
Rope too short ~ reviewed by Zonie
I own the 21 foot Silky pole saw and I wanted this lopper for this pole. It’s high quality lopper and gets the job done. It has two nuts and bolts to attached it to the pole. One big problem: the rope attached was only 13 feet long. It needs to be at least 18 feet long. So I have to spend $10.00 to replace the rope to the proper size. Its a lot easier to cut the rope and tie a knot for the handle than it is to try and extend it or replace it.

ALL SILKY PRODUCTS ARE EXCELLANT. THIS LOPPER IS A LITTLE HEAVY AND BULKY BUT HAS AN OVERSIZE BLADE AND CUTS VERY WELL.
Makes the Hayauchi pole saw more useful ~ reviewed by Steven A. Romondo
This fits the Hayauchi pole perfectly and works well.
which is fantastic. With a 21 foot reach ~ reviewed by SP3204
The lopper seems to be well made. I’ve been using consumer-level loppers and saws and finally upgraded to the Hayauchi, which is fantastic. With a 21 foot reach, it was begging for this lopper head. Together, they do make a pretty heavy combo – I quickly learned to keep the pole as upright as possible. It cuts with a minimal effort, however, it does take a fair amount of rope pull to accomplish it (when cutting thin branches). It’s a good trade-off, my old lopper required a lot of effort having only a single pulley.
It’s clear this is an aftermarket product for the Silky pole. The attachment is a clumsy two bolts with lockwashers and nuts and doesn’t use Silky’s excellent mounting (as used for the saw blade). The hardware appears to be of high quality but I worry about deforming the pole top by tightening them too tightly. I plan to replace the nuts with nylock nuts so they won’t loosen and I won’t have to tighten them to engage the lockwashers.
